A Little Girl, A Sketchbook, & A Dream…
I hope you’re doing excellently well! If you saw my last email, you know that an exciting new chapter has begun for Simeogieme. If this is your first time hearing from us, welcome! We’re glad to have you on this journey as we unveil what’s next.
I still remember the first time I picked up a pencil to sketch a dress (saved you a picture below). Growing up in Lagos, I watched my mother bring fabrics to life through her tailoring business. It fascinated me, the ability to transform an idea into something tangible, something beautiful.
But my journey to launching Simeogieme wasn’t a straight path. I studied Accounting, pursued an MBA, and spent years working in the corporate world in London and Lagos. Yet, my heart always led me back to fashion. During lunch breaks, I sketched designs. At home, I cut up bed sheets just to practice draping. And when I designed my first bridesmaid dress for a friend’s wedding, it was so fulfilling and I knew this was my calling.
In 2013, I showcased my first collection at Africa Fashion Week London. Seeing women light up when they wore my designs was the confirmation I needed. That was the moment Simeogieme was truly born.
Today, Simeogieme is a brand for individuals who embrace simplicity, sensuality, and sophistication. Those who understand that confidence begins with what you wear and how it makes you feel. My goal is to create timeless designs that empower you to show up as your best self, every single time.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to sharing more of the emotive pieces I create, each inspired by my own relatable life experiences, and thoughtfully designed to celebrate confidence, elegance, and individuality in timeless ways.
With Love,
Osime Saibu

PS

This was the very first dress I ever tailored myself, made in October 2008 for a dear friend’s wedding in November of that year. That experience was more than just stitching fabric; it ignited something in me. By December 2008, after returning from the wedding, I registered Simeogieme in the UK. That was the beginning of a journey I’m still deeply passionate about today.
